HabitGrip Is Now on Google Play

HabitGrip — a local-first habit and task tracker built without guilt mechanics — is now on Google Play. What is in it, what it costs, and what is not there yet.

HabitGrip is available on Google Play today. It is a habit and task tracker that keeps your data on your device, works without an account, and does not use guilt as a motivator.

Why another habit tracker

Most trackers are built around an unbroken streak. That works until the day life gets in the way — and then the number that was supposed to encourage you becomes the reason you stop opening the app.

HabitGrip treats a streak as a record of what happened, not a debt you owe. You can skip a day honestly, pause a habit for a week, or put everything on hold for a trip, and your history stays intact. We wrote about the reasoning behind that in how to track habits without obsessing over streaks.

Today brings the routines and tasks that need attention into one view.

What is in it

  • Four habit types. Yes/No for the simple ones, Numeric with your own units and targets, Timer for anything measured in minutes, and Checklist for routines with parts.
  • Schedules that fit a real week. Daily, specific weekdays, every N days, or N times per period. Pick the cadence and the app does the bookkeeping.
  • Tasks next to habits. One-off and recurring tasks live in the same Today view, so you do not need a second app for the things that happen once.
  • Vacation mode. Pause one habit or all of them. Streaks freeze rather than break, and you can schedule a vacation ahead of a trip you already know about.
  • Home-screen widgets. Check habits off without opening the app. Light and dark, resizable.
  • Statistics worth reading. A heatmap, monthly and day-of-week views, and consistency trends — built to show you patterns, not to score you.
  • Offline by default. Everything works with no account and no connection, with local backup, restore, and JSON export so your data is never held hostage.

What it costs

Free covers everyday tracking: 5 recurring habits, 5 one-time tasks, one profile, plus reminders, the full statistics, flexible scheduling, vacation mode, and local backup. Pro is a one-time $39.99 and lifts the limits — unlimited habits, tasks, and profiles. Ultra is $4.99 a month or $19.99 a year and adds device sync and automatic cloud backups. There are no ads on any tier, and analytics are opt-in.

What is not there yet

iOS is not out. It is the next thing we are building, and there is a waitlist that gets you a free year of Ultra when it lands. There is no web app either — this site is where you get the app, and the app is where you track.

Getting started

Install it, add one to three habits you genuinely want to notice, and give each one a cadence that matches your week. The beginner's guide walks through the whole setup, and if you are coming from another tracker, the import guide covers bringing your history with you.
